John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but has everlasting life.
The Bible verse John 3:16 is well known to many people, but to others it’s words are unfamiliar.
The verse has often been called the whole Bible in just one verse. It covers topics found from Genesis to Revelation (the first book of the Bible to the last book of the Bible). It deals with various aspects of Theology and humanity. The words talk about love, family, fatherhood, the value of children, and the needs of community.
It speaks of salvation, the forgiveness of sin, redemption from wrong doing, restoration, and belief.
It talks of the future, and of everlasting life.
The words are simple, but the message is profound, even divine, because it talks about the individual like you or me getting their life in a right relationship with God Himself.
It tells about Jesus, the Savior, the Messiah.
Jesus is the baby whose birth we celebrate at Christmas, and He is the Savior who died on the cross to pay the penalty for the sin of the individual.
Jesus offers this payment of the penalty of sin for all who will believe that:
A. They as an individual have done things that God disapproves of (these things are called sin; God says in His word the Bible that everyone sins).
B. They believe that Jesus was God in the flesh, who died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin, and rose again from the dead on the third day (which we celebrate on Easter Sunday).
and
C. They commit their lives to Jesus as God, the living Savior, confessing their sin to Him and asking Him to forgive them of their sin, and be Lord of their life. (God forgives all who ask Him).
I want to invite you, and encourage you to accept Jesus as your personal savior. Think about it. Pray about it. Ask God to help you to understand, and to believe.
